Home Remedies
I know you will find this hard to believe, but this is not a
joke. One of the most effective home remedies is of all
things....Duct tape! Oh yes, the many uses of duct tape.
It is called duct tape occlusion therapy and you basically
cover the wart with a piece of duct tape for weeks or even
months at a time. There are obvious drawbacks. Because if it
was not embarrassing enough to have the wart in plain view,
just imagine what it will be like with the duct tape on you
in plain site, but if the wart is not in plain site, then
this wart home remedy truly has been proven effective.
Although it should be noted that dermatologist do not
endorse this or pretty much any other home remedies. You can
draw your own conclusions as to why a person who stands to
make money if you do not use these types of methods does not
endorse the methods.
There are a number of other homeopathic options ranging from
natural extracts you can get from your local health food
stores to the use of items found in your kitchen cabinets
such as vinegar. Once again, not endorsed by most
dermotologists.
Over-The-Counter Wart Treatments
Probably the most marketed over-the-counter wart removal
treatment is called Compound W. There are a number of other
treatments. Most of the over-the-counter remedies
incorporate the use of a powerful, but safe acid called
salicylic acid. The acid is administered via a medicated pad
and left on until it basically melts the wart away. Most
often there is very little sensation involved with this
method, but depending on how sensitive your skin is this
process can cause a burning discomfort.
Other over-the-counter remedies utilize cryosurgery packets
or kits for freezing warts off. The kits consist of a liquid
nitrogen or carbon dioxide and sometimes they may even have
a silver nitrate pencil for wart removal.
These methods are safe, provided you follow the directions
very closely.
Professional Wart Removal Methods
In general, a dermatologist will use a more potent
application of what you get in the over-the-counter
products. The difference lies in the dermatologist using
chemical injections to aid in the immune system being able
to go to war against the warts. In addition, the
dermatologist may choose to use laser wart removal as a
method.
In the long run, you must be aware that warts and the viral
infections that cause them are a very resilient foe and it
is common to have to have multiple treatments in an effort
to win the battle against warts.
